THE FRANCIS BACON EXPERIMENT

Buffalo Shadowcasting Arts
Our mission
At the heart of our organization are shadowcasting performances, where we combine live acting and multimedia to recreate classic films, theatrical productions, and literary works. Talented actors bring characters to life on stage while interacting with the movie. These performances provide audiences with an immersive and dynamic experience, bringing the magic of storytelling to life in a visually captivating way. Our shows are carefully selected to reflect diverse cultural, historical, and literary themes, fostering inclusivity and understanding among our audiences.
Education
We believe that shadowcasting is not only an entertaining spectacle but also a valuable educational tool. Our organization is committed to providing workshops, seminars, and educational resources to the public.
Through these programs, we aim to:
Promote Artistic Expression
We encourage individuals of all ages to explore their creativity through workshops that teach the art of shadowcasting, acting, and set design. By fostering artistic expression, we contribute to a vibrant and diverse arts community.
Cultural Appreciation
Our educational initiatives highlight the cultural significance of the stories and themes portrayed in our performances. We strive to promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation, celebrating the richness of human heritage.
History and Literature
We offer workshops that delve into the historical and literary contexts of the stories we adapt, encouraging participants to engage with classic literature and learn about different historical periods.
Technology Integration
Our educational programs also explore the technical aspects of shadowcasting, including the use of multimedia, lighting, and sound technology, providing participants with valuable insights into the behind-the-scenes aspects of theatrical productions.
Preservation
Preservation lies at the core of our mission. As shadowcasting is a traditional and intricate form of storytelling, we believe it is essential to safeguard its legacy for future generations.
Our preservation efforts encompass:
Archiving Performances
We meticulously record and archive select performances to preserve the artistry and creativity of our shadowcasters. These recordings serve as valuable historical references and resources for research.
Supporting Emerging Artists
Our organization actively supports and mentors emerging artists interested in shadowcasting, providing them with opportunities to develop their skills and contribute to the preservation of this unique form of storytelling.
Shadowcasting Heritage
Through partnerships we contribute to the study and documentation of shadowcasting's cultural heritage. By doing so, we ensure that the knowledge and techniques of this art form are not lost over time.
