Frequently asked questions
General
We are based in Western New York and perform across Erie and Niagara County. You can always find us at the Riviera Theatre in October (tickets sell out fast), and we perform regularly at The Screening Room (new location coming soon). Our busiest seasons are in June and October, but we have various performances throughout the year. Keep an eye on our Upcoming Performances page or our social media to be the first to know when we are performing.
Shadowcasting is a unique performance art where actors are performing in front of the movie. Actors mirror the movements and expressions of the actors on screen at the same time the movie is playing.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an R rated movie. Most shows produced by or affiliated with FBE are for ages 18 and over, and are not appropriate for children. If we are performing in an event that is family friendly it will be specified in the event description. Please refer to our Upcoming Performances Page for more details. The hosting venue is responsible for enforcing age restrictions if applicable.
Yes! We always encourage audience members to dress up and participate with their favorite call backs.
We acknowledge that The Rocky Horror Picture Show and other cult classic movies have lines or themes that have not aged well. If we come across any of those lines during a performance we encourage the audience to accompany it with a big ol’ “YIKES!” We do not tolerate any callbacks that are homophobic, transphobic, antisemetic or anything remotely close to that nature.
No. Unless prior consent between the audience member and performer is given prior to the performance audience members are not allowed to touch the performers during the show.
No, we do not allow audience members to bring their own props to performances. We often sell our own prop bags that audience members may use. We always encourage audience members to throw props “up and back” to avoid hitting the actors or the screen.
Trixie is the usherette who created for the original London stage production of Rocky Horror in 1973, and sang the opening song “Science Fiction Double Feature.” Over the years Trixie has turned into a featured role in shadowcast performances where performers take the opportunity to warm up the crowd with a dance, drag, or burlesque routine.
Our performances usually contain bright lights and loud noises, including the occasional confetti cannon. Please use your own discretion before attending a performance.
